Welcome to the Adult Services and Community Outreach pages! A lot is going on at the Jefferson County Library. We have different in-house programs and partnerships with other businesses around town. So check these pages frequently to find out what exciting events and programs are happening each month.
We provide a service we call FIND YOUR NEXT READ. There are so many great books out there and we just want to help you read them all! With this goal in mind, we have created a form to help us understand your "reading" likes so that we can offer you some suggestions. So fill out the form on the right-hand side of this page and find that perfect book.
Fun Fact: At the end of the 19th century, library work was considered to be too overwhelming for women, and in 1900, the Brooklyn Public Library Association proposed building “a seaside rest home for those who had broken down in library service.” Thankfully, that is no longer the belief held by society.
Jefferson County Library District is fully committed to providing accessible facilities, elements and
channels of communication to all members of the public. As part of this commitment, Jefferson County Library District
has a policy of providing an accessible website compatible with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and
commercial screen reading software. All features of the website are coded to allow individuals with vision and
other impairments to understand and use the website to the same degree as someone without disabilities. We welcome
feedback and can often resolve issues in a timely manner if they arise.
If you need any special assistance or accommodations:
Jefferson County Library District has designated a compliance officer for website disability-related accommodations.
The compliance officer has received training in website accessibility and updates the site in accordance with those best
practices. Contact our accessibility officer to report an issue.
Compliance Procedures and Reports
In addition to testing with users with a wide range of disabilities and coding our website to WCAG standards,
Jefferson County Library District regularly scans its website to ensure ongoing compliance, and makes timely
changes to any inaccessible changes, if any are found.
