Karen Esvelt
Karen has enjoyed reading and libraries all of her life. She attended OSU and graduated from the University of Oregon, teaching elementary grades for 4 years before beginning her family. She has three children who attended and graduated from Madras schools and share Karen's love of reading. History and reading were the subjects she most enjoyed while returning to the classroom, teaching 20 years at Madras Elementary and reading hundreds of stories and books to her classes. She has been involved and served the community in many ways on a variety of committees and commissions. Her children took part in many of the Library's activities including participation in the book brigade to the "new" library in 1987. She has previously been a member of the Library Budget Committee and is on the Community Read Committee. This is her second term with the Board of Directors. She enjoys reading (of course!), a variety of music, travel, and spending time with family and friends.
