Bill Sullivan at
Sunshine Meadow
“Listening for Coyote: a walk across Oregon’s wilderness,” Sullivan’s classic account of his sixty-five day, 1,361-mile solo backpacking trek across Oregon, offers an intimate tour of the state’s renowned wilderness. “When I hiked more than 1000 miles across Oregon to kick off my guidebook research, I managed to poison myself with mushrooms, get held up at gunpoint by marijuana growers, and confront nighttime apparitions seemingly conjured up by spirits. Frankly, I’m amazed that the people who read this book tell me it makes them want to go hiking!”

“Cabin Fever: notes from a part-time pioneer,” recounts 25 summers of back-to-earth adventure when Bill Sullivan and his wife, Janell, built a log cabin in the wilds of Oregon’s Coast Range. “Of the countless threats facing Oregon’s natural world – habitat-loss, clear cutting of ancient forests, and global warming spring to mind – the biggest problem I see is simply our disconnect with the land. As our lifestyles become increasingly urban and technological, our children sometimes don’t have time to interact with nature.”

And now Bill will share the “Confessions of an Oregon Author: True tales behind the books.”
